I will not offer a burnt offering that has cost me nothing!" Perhaps this is one of the reasons Why David chose to be a man after Gods own heart. I would say that the substance of the word worship is “giving” or “sacrifice”. Sacrifice was the most important course inside the Temple during Old Testament. It was practiced in the history of worship as early as the fall in Genesis; one must offer something that is pure and blameless when he/she is approaching God in worship. By tradition the word sacrifice is synonymously pertained to worship. To make it relevance today, Christians are now following the New Testament principle but there's no way for literal burnt offering. In the book of Romans Paul wrote an exact definition of worship in sacrificial sense. Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship
Not just offering of ourselves, but also worship is something that we give to God, this is the most valuable thing to us yet consider it nothing compare to the value of God. For me, one of the marks of surrendered life will gauge how does the person gives his valuable possession without any hesitation.
